Jessie Artemis Miller holds a Master's in Gallery and Museum Management from Western Colorado University. She received a Photography scholarship to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, then continued her college career at The University of Colorado at Boulder and Naropa University, where she studied Fine Art, Art History, Creative Writing, Music, Performance, Installation and Book Making. Artemis Miller is a certified Sound Healer, Usai Reiki Master, Aromatherapy Specialist, and Master of Crystal Energy and Healing. Artemis Miller enjoys blending the mediums of photography, painting, printmaking, digital art, fashion, performance art, sound art and poetry. She has written and written and produced multiple music albums under the name HAUNTED HEARTBEAT, which can be found on SoundCloud.
Artemis Miller's multi-media artwork has been exhibited across the U.S., as well as in Azerbaijan, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Amsterdam, and London, earning several awards and honors. She has been invited to Azerbaijan and Botswana by their Ministers of Culture to conduct Photojournalism projects focused on education, women’s rights and refugees of war. Artemis Miller has taught Art, Creative Writing, Music and Stewardship to the youth of her communities and to those abroad.
As a curator, Artemis Miller has imagined and executed exhibitions in Colorado, New York, Arizona, New Mexico, Maryland and abroad in Azerbaijan, Botswana, and South Africa. She is interested in pan-sensory art experiences, silent pedagogy, providing a platform for underrepresented narratives, dissolving the hierarchical structures imposed that divide art from spectator, and sparking dialogue by relating exhibitions to relevant contemporary themes. To quote Elaine Heumann Gurian, we should strive for museums to be "safe spaces for unsafe ideas."
GOBLIN33 is the name of Artemis Miller's art-inspired fashion line. She enjoys designing clothing, accessories, household items and jewelry. Goblin33 also creates magick spell oils, zines, and handmade poetry chapbooks.
